Opal company website: When you have the Opal app installed, the Opal company website is inaccessible.

I have a screen recording but it’s not letting me upload it.

when you try to access the Opal company page from Google, every link opens up the native Opal app. This includes all of the sub-links in the search result. I know this is a common behavior for websites to direct to their apps, but the information on the website is not accessible in the app (use cases, pricing, information for schools, etc).

Going to Opal.so manually does bring me to the company website. That being said, if a user wants to access your website, the inability to access it via Google search may be a drop off point for them.

Just wanted this to be on your radar.

What’s happening is that Opal’s app uses Universal Links, which tells iOS to open opal.so links directly in the Opal app. The intent is to give a smoother experience for in-app links (like invite codes or deep links), but it sounds like the configuration is catching too many paths.

Going to opal.so directly in Safari bypasses this, as you found. We’ll pass this along to the team to look at narrowing the link-claiming configuration so informational pages route to the browser instead of the app.
