Time Limit feature isn't working correctly

It’s hapenning with me too! I thought I was crazy. Also, I think it’s counting my MacOs usage, because my screen time these past few days is over 10h and I don’t spend that much time on my phone. On Saturday and Sunday, which are days that I barely use my phone, my screen time is approximately 9h. It doesn’t make sense!!!
And very important, I don’t have the Opal app installed on my mac.

i have zero issues with paying for a good app but i do not like paying $100 for an app where i can’t use all the features. I will be canceling my plan until this is sorted and I have SUCCESSFULLY requested a refund from apple for my subscription. So please try this yourselves guys :pray:t4:

This issue just started happening for me too. EXTREMELY disappointing for an app I pay $100 for. Incredibly frustrating to have to use my emergency pass to fix a bug that the app knows about, and has known about for 6+ months. There should be some kind of alternative workaround in the app coding to fix cases like this instead of forcing customers to use their emergency pass.

For what it’s worth, I hadn’t updated my app in a few months and it seems whatever prior version of the app I was using was avoiding this issue. I updated my app a few days ago and now the app is extremely glitchy and this time limits issue has started occurring. So, it seems like an issue with one of the Opal updates that occurred in the last few months.

Looks like this is still an ongoing issue. I’ve had to disable time limits completely, which is why I paid for the pro version of the app. Any ETA on when this will be fixed?

Hey @Peds,

Opal Support here! After months of escalation, we were informed that Apple has resolved this bug on iOS 26.5. While we’ve tested it on our side and it appears to be resolved, we wanted to ask anyone who has experienced this bug here to see if it’s also working on their end after they upgrade to iOS 26.5. Unfortunately, the recreation steps are somewhat difficult, but here’s what you’ll need to do to test:

  • Ensure all your existing ā€œTime Limitsā€ are deleted within Opal

  • Exit Opal

  • Go to the ā€œApple Beta Software Programā€ website: https://beta.apple.com/

  • Sign in with your Apple ID

  • Enroll your device

  • Alternatively, if you’re already signed up for Apple’s Beta Software Program:

  • Navigate to your Settings > General > Software Update

  • Tap on ā€œBeta Updatesā€

  • Tap on ā€œiOS 26 Developer Betaā€

  • Tap the ā€œ<ā€ toggle in the top left corner

  • iOS 26.5 should appear

  • Upgrade your iOS

  • Once your iOS is upgraded, navigate back to Opal

  • Recreate your ā€œTime Limitā€

  • Ensure the ā€œReset Allowed?ā€ difficulty is set to ā€œYes, make it super easyā€

  • Ensure the ā€œTime Limitā€ initiates after 5 mins or the like so it’s easier to test

  • Save the ā€œTime Limitā€

  • Test the ā€œTime Limitā€ (best to test it on audio-visual apps like YouTube/Instagram Reels/TikTok, etc)

  • If you encounter ANY issues with your ā€œTime Limitā€ triggering incorrectly, navigate to ā€œProfileā€ > ā€œSettingsā€ > ā€œContact Usā€ > tap the ā€œMailā€ Icon in the top right corner to report the issue, so we have error logs. Please reference this post as well.

If anyone here is able to update to iOS 26.5 and test this, we’d deeply appreciate the assistance. Otherwise, we’re very eager to resolve this, but do not want to inform all people who use Opal until we can completely confirm it’s resolved!

All the best,
Team Opal
